Dario Parazzoli has built a multidisciplinary background over the years spanning physics, technology, and biomedical research. He graduated in Physics from the University of Milan, where he studied the dispersion of radionuclides following the Chernobyl disaster. He then began his career in the microscopy industry, working for nearly a decade as a project manager and contributing to the development of confocal microscopy and high-end imaging solutions for the life sciences.

In 2004, he moved into biomedical research at the European Institute of Oncology, working in the imaging unit, where, among other things, he adapted TIRF (Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence) microscopy for extended observation of live cells. He subsequently set up an imaging facility at the National Institute of Molecular Genetics, before joining IFOM in 2009.

Today he leads the Advanced Light Microscopy Unit at IFOM, providing researchers, together with his team, with cutting-edge imaging technologies and image analysis expertise in support of cancer research, playing an active role in advancing optical microscopy applied to this field.
